In the midst of all the bad and the negativity and the naysayers and deniers, it’s important to carve out some time to be grateful.

I have a short video clip on my phone that I play every so often and it always makes me smile. It’s my grandson Haydn, in one of those arcades where he’s doing the bowling thing. And he chucks the ball toward the pins and it doesn’t quite gutterball. The ball takes out one pin on the edge and he spins about and jumps up and down and yells: “I got one!”

That’s my motto in dark times: I got one.

Not how many were missed. Focus on the one you got.

We all have something to be grateful for. Look for the sparkle amidst the darkness.

“I got one!”
